Parts order
Before the restoration began, some new parts were ordered. After a closer inspection of the T-Bird, we were able to order, buy and store almost all parts for assembly. The reassembly is still a while in coming.

Start
On July 6th, 2021 the time had finally come. The restoration of the T-Bird could start. All fluids were drained, the gearbox as well as the engine and everything in the way were removed. After a few persuasion attempts, the exhaust could be moved with the angle grinder.

Motor
July 2021 The engine turned out to be in worse condition than expected. It was a MUST to renew the parts of the engine. Of course, we also pay attention to originality here. Only what can be changed on a historical vehicle without affecting the originality is changed or improved.

Interieur
August 2021, we removed the interior, including the electrics and the mechanism for the convertible top. Lots of screws and split pins, but basically a little easier job. The T-Bird was disassembled down to the sheet metal to be ready for the next step.

Sandblasting
The old paint, dirt, etc. were removed with the sandblasting so that the base for the paint build-up is perfect. We decided to use this method to save time. Many other methods of paint removal are possible.
